To celebrate his “Summertime Sadness” remix hitting 1 million views on YouTube, ETC!ETC! is giving away a free download of a rather dissimilar tune. By taking on Kendrick Lamar’s “M.A.A.D. City,” the Mad Decent producer trapifies hip-hop by cutting out the majority of MC Eiht’s verses – and the second half of the song. Relying on vocal distortion, a stripped down melody and his signature 808s, Jose took the track down a notch, somehow making it both less intense but more ominous than the original. While the sound is a slightly new direction, only you can decide if the LA-based trap slayer does in fact gun himself down by the end of the song.
