Dancing Astronaut’s top 10 tracks of Nocturnal Wonderland 2013

Nocturnal Wonderland featured 5 stages with over 40+ artists that covered the expansive San Manuel Amphitheatre grounds. Lights, lasers, ferris wheels, and other illuminated structures were prevalent no matter which way you turned. Below you can find the top tracks of Nocturnal Wonderland 2013, these were determined by two factors:

1)      Quantity of times played

2)      Crowd reaction/engagement to the track

10. Leon Bolier – Spell

A favorite amongst the Dutch DJs, Leon Bolier’s “Spell” gives artists a melodic build up while still bringing the fire that festival crowds demand.

9. Andrew Bayer – England
It’s hard to understand why this tune isn’t played in every set, but we were able to grasp the power in three different sets that took place across the main stage to the Discovery Project area. Needless to say, the Shazam app was used numerous times in order to identify “England.”

8. Kryder – Aphrodite
This Axtone Records release is an undeniable progressive hit. While it doesn’t feature the major kick drums or huge drops, it does allow the crowd to relax and enjoy well produced music. You know how DJs harp about taking crowds on a musical journey? “Aphrodite” has a knack for fitting that bill really well.

7. Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, DubVision – Triton (Dance Valley Anthem 2013)
The fun loving Dutch duo of Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano had one of the middle time slots on one of the headlining stages. This feel good track had the near-capacity crowd churning with excitement — it was a great way to kick off an impressive lineup.

6. Don Diablo & Matt Nash – Starlight
At this point in the game, regular festival attendees have memorized the lyrics to the chorus of “Starlight.” Hell, most artists switch off the music just to hear the crowd sing-a-long.

5. Blasterjaxx – Fifteen (Hardwell Edit)
Both Thomas Gold and Sander Van Doorn dropped this tune much to the delight of the crowd. The most telling part of this is that they played it back to back and the crowd didn’t seem to mind that they heard “Fifteen” twice in a span of about one hour.

4. Axwell & Sick Individuals ft. Taylr Renee – I AM
Arguably the hottest new tune out right now, “I AM” had to be played at a relatively large festival at least a few times, right? We counted three times total, but if it were the crowd’s choice – it would have been countless times more.

3. Norman Doray – Filtre
Norman’s disco oriented tune can be played in opening sets or during a headlining set anywhere and anytime. It really goes well anywhere, the flexibility of “Filtre” allows artists to be extremely creative. Keep this in mind the next time you hear this at a festival near you.

2. Nicky Romero, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano ft. Fast Eddie – Sound Of The Underground
“J-J-J-Jack to the sound of the underground!”
Every time this track plays you can see everyone in the crowd pretending to bang on imaginary drums. If your song has its own dance routine, I think that means you’ve made it.

1. DVBBS & Borgeous – Tsunami

Hands down the most played release at Nocturnal Wonderland while receiving the best crowd reaction by a mile and a half. That being said, “Tsunami” deserves the top spot, don’t you think?
