Richie Hawtin set to bring minimal techno to the Guggenheim

In what may be the first instance of Women’s Wear Daily breaking a dance music story, details of the Guggenheim International Gala have been released with none other than Richie Hawtin booked to spin the event’s Dior-sponsored pre-party. To kick off two days of artistic celebration and fundraising, the mighty minimalist will spin in the museum’s rotunda on November 6th, taking the decks after a set from his own brother, Matthew. Though a general admission ticket will run you $125, the cost should pose no issue for a fan base that expands from Chrysler’s birthplace to CircoLoco to the world of couture: According to WWD, head Dior designer Raf Simons counts Hawtin among his favorites and booked the DJ himself. While tickets for Young Collectors’ Counsel members are already on sale, the general sale will begin on October 7th. Head here for more details.
