Blood Diamonds creates dreamy soundscapes with two-track ‘Osaka’ EP
Former videogame design student turned hip-hop infused electronica producer, Blood Diamonds, joins the OWSLA family with his forthcoming EP, Osaka. A two-track case study on the boundlessness of electronic music, Osaka may be one of the most interesting releases off Skrillex’s powerhouse label in the last six months. First there is the the title track, “Osaka,” a subdued and casual cocktail of ambient synthwork and capricious percussion that floats with ease as tension builds but never quite breaks. Next up is the appropriately named, “Apex,” a track that allows the EP’s tension to reach its pinnacle, crashing down in a wave of eerie vocal samples and mechanized sound design that feel as if they were plucked from the soundtrack of a space-aged videogame.
