Editor’s Spotify Playlist of the Week

We wanted to create another way of expressing ourselves other than writing about our favorite tunes so we decided to feature Spotify playlists comprised of our personal picks. Get to know us a little better by exploring our eclectic taste in dance music.

Last weekend Above & Beyond flew a 15-piece orchestra to LA’s Greek Theater, bringing their acoustic experience to America for the first and possibly last time. Not living anywhere near the West Coast, within six hours of the initial announcement I had purchased my plane tickets and secured a couch to crash on: As a has-been violinist and Group Therapy patient, this was the can’t miss show of the year.

Sirens Of The Sea will always hold a spot in my top five albums rankings, and as I played it on repeat during my haul out of the Heartland I tapped into the restorative qualities of everything that Above & Beyond has ever touched – the result is the Anjuna-Only Weekend Wind Down. Featuring the likes of Andrew Bayer, Jaytech, Norin & Rad and of course the A&B trio itself, the playlist also digs back to the label’s harder trance origins. With one track from each Anjunabeats Volume and Wordwide compilation, the mix is a sort of sampler platter for those dipping into the Anjuna deeps, though that label deserves a solo showing. A blend of straight trance and crooked trancey chill out tunes with an extra dollop of post-2010 goodness, the mix got me through an LAX delay and tarmac traffic jam. Hopefully it can get you through a Sunday.
