GTA V isn’t the only thing worth talking about this week. Out now on Calvin Harris’ Fly Eye Records is Miami duo GTA’s newest single, “The Crowd.” Marking their first outing on the label, the tune encapsulates its underground mission statement, folding trap elements into a grungy electro framework. The tune is their first solo Beatport release since “Alerta” made a cameo on T & A Records’ Moombahton Forever compilation and shows a similar refusal to be quickly classified. Varying in rhythm, trading off between vocal sample and beat and introducing a vibe-changing break, “The Crowd” may in fact stand alone in an ever more homogenous scene.
