Back in 1992, Marc Kinchen coined a house gem unstoppable on the global clubbing circuit. Now comfortably holding his corner as consistent floor filler and remixer MK, his much loved anthem “Always” receives a formal revisit from globe trotting up-and-comer Route 94 for Defected Records. Pitched with the audacious task of building on such a revered club classic, the London-based talent does a sizeable job of bringing “Always” into the 21^st century. With Alana’s original vocal assets suitably warped and a consistent balance of subtle high and low-end synth work, this easy grooving remodel supports the hype that has been circling this relative newcomer over the past several months. While the full package offers three additional remixes, Route 94 takes the biscuit where relevance and nostalgic integrity are concerned for by far one of the year’s most welcome house reawakenings.
