Morgan Avenue is a brand new act poised to make some waves in the deeper end of the pool. From the moment the track begins, we are drawn into a seductive and lush atmosphere of beats, and when the unmistakable vocal jab makes its appearance, “The Serve” is smooth sailing. Morgan Avenue performs the musical equivalent of pouring a pint into a shot glass, accomplishing what many deep house producers fail to do. What’s more, this isn’t a Toolroom release (though it could pass for one), but rather Spinnin’ Deep: the Dutch imprint that’s been on its A-game lately. Morgan Avenue may well be a tough act to follow (time will tell), but with the bar already set this high, his next challenge will be to outdo himself.
