Martin Garrix hints at new collaborations with Tiësto and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike
Every fan and producer of dance music has heard the name and can instantly recall the incredibly catchy tune. “Animals” is from one of the youngest producers in electronic music, Martin Garrix, and was 2013’s anthem, a track heard in nearly every festival set since its release earlier this year. The undisputed success story of 2013 as it recently hit #1 in Holland, Belgium and most recently, the UK. Martin explains that “Animals” was actually inspired by a Busta Rhymes hip-hop track and the rapid success of the single worried the producer as he shot straight to the top of Beatport charts. “It became big so quickly I was like, ‘Oh shit, this has happened really fast’, and I didn’t have any other tracks ready to release yet. At that point I was like ‘Oh, shit, I don’t want to be like a one-hit dude.'” However, it was clear the countlessly remixed festival hit was undeniable proof of the Dutch producer’s promising talent and future career in music. Since then Martin has released “Wizard” and a remix of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Sander van Doorn‘s “Project T,” but fans are still anxiously awaiting for word on what’s next for the young star.
“I have some really big collaborations with some of the biggest in the world,” Martin begins to reveal. “It’s with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and there’s another name that I can’t actually tell you.” But shortly after, Martin confirms that though the track is yet to be finished, a future studio session with Tiësto is guaranteed and the young producer doesn’t deny potential projects in the works with DJ Mag’s #1 DJ int he World, Hardwell.
