MK tops iTunes UK charts with ‘Look Right Through’ remix, no pop intervention required
Having forged itself as one of the most popular summer anthems of 2013, MK’s remix of Storm Queen’s “Look Right Through” for Defected Records and Ministry of Sound has hit the number one spot on iTunes in the UK almost immediately upon release. Hitting the number two spot just 16 minutes after it was released, the highly sought-after remix hit number one just in time for breakfast in the UK shores.
The remix drops at the tail end of one of Defected’s most prolific years at the helm of modern house music, with their main label duties and underground offshoot DFTD paving the way for talents new, old and established throughout the year. At a time when the underground gold rush has never been hotter and major labels are lapping up radio-friendly remakes all over the shop, MK and Storm Queen’s chart success is a positive indicator that it doesn’t take a pop intervention to allow a house record to shine on the popular charts.
