Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD Records imprint plays host this month to Montreal’s Richie G, who debuts on the label with a three-track nod to his peak time techno tendencies. At just 19 years old, the young talent follows up on promising remix duties for Guy Gerber with three solid insights into his rapidly developing underground sound scope. While the EP’s title-track grinds mechanically with lucid sample work throughout, “This Again” soars with a more harrowing and airy undertone than that of its heavy footed precursor. With “Villains In Town” offering a merciless climax to this accomplished debut from the Canadian young blood, Richie G proves a surefire breakout where the forward motion of modern techno is concerned. The EP will be officially released on November 18th.
