Bixel Boys finish 2013 strong with second original EP 'Bring It On'

LA’s Bixel Boys are moving at a breakneck pace as they release their Bring It On EP just two months after unleashing their first original productions on Black December. Whereas their first EP was released on Australian record label Sweat It Out, the duo chose New York’s Nervous Records for their sophomore effort. While the pair’s underground integrity is maintained in both releases, Bring It On emphasizes the big room, deep house feel that was implied but outshone by more upbeat and poppy sounds in Black December. Their latest outing features grittier and more metallic sounds, with title track “Bring It On” inspired by the sounds of a marching band. The tune’s twisting snares, cheerleader vocals, and brassy drop submerged in bouncing bass lines are foiled by the EP’s darker B-side, “C.P.R.” More literal and more sinister, the track relies on scratchy electro house synths paired with EMT cardiac sounds.
