Spend New Year's at Hammerstein Ballroom for Winter Galactic
Winter Galactic recently relocated from dreary old New Jersey to the iconic Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Shirking the massive IZOD Center for a more intimate celebration of the end of 2013. For any New York fans looking for an over-the-top evening outside of the bottle service clubs and overpriced open bars, Winter Galactic provides the sort of rowdy atmosphere that will certainly set 2014 off with a bang. With Dada Life, Porter Robinson, W&W, Bassjackers, Cash Cash, and Bambi, the lineup serves up an expansive spread of hard hitting electro, dub and Dutch. This isn’t your average ball drop.
Hop past the break for sets from each of the performing artists and hype yourself up for what is destined to be the rowdiest New Year’s Eve party in the city that never sleeps.
Hot off the buzz from “This Machine Kills Ravers,” the Dada boys return to the spotlight is both welcome and needed. The rowdiest duo in dance music will leave Winter Galactic in a state of disarray after their sausage-fattened kick drums shake Hammerstein to its foundation.
ADDJ Porter Robinson is known for his frantic mixing skills and choice track selection. The outspoken producer has little allegiance to big room hits – opting instead to play whatever the f*ck he wants – as fast and as hard as he can.
Responsible for the biggest remix of the year with their take on Armin’s “This Is What It Feels Like,” W&W will be bringing their unique big room trance sound to the mix. Juxtaposing the hard hitting electro and dubstep with some soaring trance melodies.
The kings of bounce house, Bassjackers throw their hats in the ring to push Winter Galactic’s energy over the top. Two of the most energetic entities in dance music today, this jackin’ bass duo will pull out all the stops for their New Year’s Eve set. If Rusko, Porter, and Dada Life don’t turn Hammerstein into an electro dub supernova, these guys will ignite the spark that sets the dancefloor ablaze.
Atlantic Records poster boys and New Jersey natives Cash Cash join the Winter Galactic family to bring their electro pop to Hammerstein’s hallowed halls. Best known for the runaway hit “Take Me Home,” this trio has got more than just one hit up their sleeves. Expect to hear an entire EPs worth of the catchiest (and punchiest) electro jabs of the evening. Come for “Take Me Home” and stay for their lesser known remixes and originals.
Bambi’s latest release “Charizma” on Fly Eye Records established her as not only a killer DJ but a talented producer as well. After years on the club DJ circuit, Bambi’s style is hard to lock down. It’s a collection of electro, techno and everything in between. She brings an eclectic edge to the fast-paced tastes of her Winter Galactic peers.
