David Guetta ft. Skylar Grey – Shot Me Down (Original Mix) [Preview]
It’s been some time since we’ve last heard from David Guetta on the production front, but he has made his return to dance music with an oddly familiar guest star – Skylar Grey. Having worked with Kaskade in 2011 on “Room For Happiness,” the Wisconsin-born singer is no stranger to electronic music despite her pop/folk rock interests. Originally performed by Cher in 1966, “Bang Bang” really came to life when Nancy Sinatra released her more sultry rendition that same year. Guetta and Grey’s collaborative effort more closely resembles Sinatra’s, the track most recently known for being included in Kill Bill’s soundtrack.
The Frenchman’s makeover contains a sultry opening as Skylar channels the late, great song siren and subtly eases into the intro. David makes his presence felt in a bombastic build of electro house that kicks into gear at the 40-second mark. An arrangement engulfed in poppy synths and bumping basslines, the king of the pop crossover’s latest original will be released on January 20th via Jackback Records.
