Dusky – 9T8 (Original Mix)
In just two years, Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman have asserted themselves as one of British house music’s most influential breakouts of the generation. Returning off the heels of last year’s esteemed Careless EP for their own Aus imprint, it takes just one track for this long overdue return to School Records to assert that Dusky means business for the year ahead.
This murky and mechanically formed house cut defies the “one size” criterion that made every edgy club track with low-end properties a deep house record. Instead, “9T8” epitomizes what the British duo does best: perfect and protect the underground sound scope with a track filled with attitude from the very first beat. En route to a much anticipated four-hour set at Fabric for ‘Dusky Presents’ and some speculated WMC action on the cards, 2014 looks set to be dominated by an act growing more essential to the European spotlight than anyone could have anticipated.
