Moullinex – To Be Clear (Kraak & Smaak Remix)
Kraak & Smaak’s fourth full-length venture Chrome Waves showed the instrumental Dutch trio at their most eclectic heights. Three months down the line, the Jalapeno Records favorites turn their indie dance abstractionism to the work of Luis Clara Gomes, an aptly instrumental man whose Moullinex moniker has ticked just as many boxes for the forward movements of live dance music. “To Be Clear” is a haunting little number in its original format, but is no match for Kraak & Smaak’s docile grooves and melancholic progressions. The union of two of Europe’s most outspoken seems a proper stab at getting the nostalgic genre strains out of market tedium, making the Dutch outfit as crucial – if not more so – to the scene as they were throughout 2013.
