Produced in collaboration with label-mate Juliet Sikora, “Set it Off” was crafted around a sinuous funk bass line that serves as sonic glue, adhering fresh layers of shuffling hi-hat rhythms and humming synth pads through bumping groove sections and sparse percussive breakdowns. With a throwback male vocal that takes its stylistic cues from Rick Astley, this track seems to be striking quite the right tone in these disco-infused days.
