Chromeo channels pop hop for ‘Jealous (I Ain’t With It)’

“I’m too cool to admit it.”

There is no better lyric to epitomize the effortless composure that oozes from every White Women track we’ve been teased with from Chromeo thus far. Primarily known for their one-of-a-kind electrofunk grooves, Dave 1 and P-Thugg have chosen to boldly intensify the pop threads in their latest, “Jealous (I Ain’t With It).” The duo partnered up with fellow production team Oliver to create the outline of “Jealous,” and despite alleged hesitation to use a song with a guitar riff that heavily mimics a well-known Katy Perry tune, the finalized product evidences a perfect middle ground of slapping synth and pop hop influences. Fans will still find that the White Women opening track still drips with signature foot-tapping nu-disco knocks and rapt vocal bebops underneath the strangely familiar guitar chorus line.

White Women is Chromeo’s fourth studio album release, coming on May 12th. Meanwhile, listen to “Jealous (I Ain’t With It)” here.
