Eric Prydz ‘Liberates’ the road to WMC with impending Pryda Recordings single

On the approach to WMC, we thought we knew everything we needed to know about Eric Prydz. He’d ushered in a decade as Pryda sealed 2013’s best Essential Mix, hinted at a new album for 2014, orchestrated a double dose of UMF action and announced plans to clash musical hors with Deadmau5 for an unprecedented Pryda VS Mau5trap Miami showdown. As is often the case with the multi-monikered icon, new music was brewing patiently off the radar, delivered now as Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record in the World and yet further fuel to the pre-Miami trail for this born-again melodic bruiser.

Here in 2014, the stakes stand invariably higher, but never more comfortably conquered by the progressive house upholder. For the most part, Prydz’s saving grace has been an ability to consistently and coherently deliver in a sound bracket he has grown to practically epitomize. That aptitude for rich melodic progressions with an after kick of vintage appeal pervades “Liberate,” sending the senses into overdrive for a long overdue to Pryda Recordings from the original Swedish master. He is still one of the few European artists breeding hype for all the right reasons, offering yet another indicator that 2013 was just an appetizer to the plans Prydz has in store for global dance music.
