Miami Youth Center to receive a special guest teaching from Martin Garrix during MMW

Think Miami Music Week is all about pool parties, dancing all day at Ultra, and late night nightclubs? Martin Garrix says otherwise.

Little is needed to introduce the hot-rocket superstar DJ who, at only age 17, scored the hit-track of the year and went from mere festival attendee to main stage headliner in under a year. In between his headlining slot at Ultra Music Festival and numerous Music Week parties, the young producer plans to slow the week down and take an afternoon to visit Miami’s Alonso Mourning Overtown Youth Center on March 27th. Garrix hopes to intertwine the spirit of celebration for Miami Music Week with music and art education by teaching the students basics of music mixing. He will be joined by artist Alexander Mijares who will simultaneously teach the attendees painting techniques in tandem with the music.

During the session, the kids will have an opportunity to meet and mingle with the young success himself and participate in an Animals-inspired art project. Though this special event will be closed to the public, fans can have a piece of their own Garrix-influenced art: Mijares will also create an artwork inspired by Animals, which will be sold and proceeds will be donated to the Overtown Youth Center.
