Key Canadian house cohorts Prince Club made considerable waves for Toolroom Records alongside Harvard Bass back in September with “Canixo.” Their debut original stint of the New Year is little exception, this time flying solo alongside Knight and Co to add to their timeless house odyssey. The label has constantly sought to bridge the void between conventional house music and its popular offshoots, more than often coming up top trumps in the process. “This Kinda Love” is a perfect reminder of that low-end shift that pervaded the global circuit circa 2008 and beyond, giving the track a pinch of smoother club mechanics to celebrate the seemingly neutral state of the genre in 2014. It’s as inoffensive as you could pray for from a label as well-versed as Toolroom, not to mention testament to Prince Club’s golden boy stature at the outset of the year.
