Chromeo – Jealous (DJ Hoodboi Remix) [Preview]
Montreal-made funk duo Chromeo are on the cusp of releasing their highly anticipated comeback album White Women via Fool’s Gold Records next month, and hype around the self-dubbed Funk Lordz is immeasurable. The two are currently on a 22-stop tour, and recently crushed two weekends on Coachella‘s main stage and an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in nearly the same breath. Generating even more excitement, the slew of fresh remixes reaching the wire has Chromeo’s latest material on everyone’s mind.
So far, the dapper duo’s singles have been creatively reworked by key producers all across the spectrum. From Boys Noize to Dillon Francis, Salva to Brenmar, remixes of new Chromeo tunes are surfacing left and right, and now the latest reimagining comes by way of DJ Hoodboi‘s take on the pair’s infectious pop-sensation hit “Jealous.” The rising jersey club producer impressively represents his genre with his sensually energetic spin, flipping the original mix inside out.
Isolating Dave1’s silky vocals before introducing a bouncy, club-ready synth, the remix chops lyrical cuts over dripping wet sample work and a crisp drum arrangement, complete with chimes and claps throughout. Teased over BBC Radio 1’s airwaves, no word yet on the tune’s official release. Stream DJ Hoodboi’s rendition below, and if you still ain’t with it, keep your eyes peeled for Chromeo’s White Women slated to be released on May 12th.
