DJ Snake & Lil Jon’s ‘Turn Down For What’ gets a heavy rap roster remix
Mad Decent don DJ Snake and Lil Jon cranked out “Turn Down For What” and since its emergence in the end of 2013, the party anthem of the year has been nearly inescapable. Undoubtedly replacing, “Who let the dogs out?” as the party mantra of the century, from sun-drenched beach parties to packed nightclub dance floors, the crossover collaboration hasn’t cooled off one bit. Now the twerk-tune-turned-mega-hit is getting a mainstream makeover as the genre lines between dance music and hip-hop are blurred once more.
Extending the track’s already healthy shelf-life featuring a recognizable cast of rappers, 2 Chainz, South Bronx-bred French Montana, and Academy Award winner Juicy J, all deliver lyrical knockouts weaved into DJ Snake’s crowd commanding selection. Leaving the remix’s intro to the original tune’s infectious hook, former Three 6 Mafia member Juicy J’s verse leads off the rework. A quick halftime break down and drum arrangement brings Lil Jon’s aggressive vocal cut back in, as 2 Chainz’ contribution follows. Rounding off the order, French Montana comes in last as the all-star rap trio turn down for nothing in this hip-hop inspired remix. Stream the remix below.
