Hard Rock Sofa & Skidka – Arms Around Me (Original Mix)
2014 has already been a proactive year for Russian stronghold Hard Rock Sofa. Whilst their studio output has remained sparingly dealt, an increasing live presence and whisper of their debut album has kept all eyes and ears on one of the nation’s most finely tuned big room machines. For the long overdue return to Axwell’s melodic house safeguard, the follow-up to 2013’s “Rasputin” comes alongside Russian peer Skidka, taking an interesting twist on the mutual stamina found in more recent Protocol collaboration “Moloko.” For “Arms Around Me,” the trio brings forward a marriage of sound we wouldn’t necessarily attribute to either artistic force. Breaching the unsuspecting yet infectious bridge between disco and big room, the track shouldn’t work on paper, but is executed with impressive gusto by this cluster of versatile talents. It shows an infectious and creatively poised take on a genre often accused of lacking imagination in the current market. If this is to be the standard set for the duo’s impending album for Axtone, Hard Rock Sofa may just be ready to drop big room’s first definitive LP.
