Neon Trees – Sleeping With a Friend (The Chainsmokers Remix)
The Chainsmokers may have hit on the original of the year, but before “#Selfie” Drew and Alex got their start as remix masters. Now returning to the art form with a rework of Neon Trees’ “Sleeping With a Friend,” the duo join Kat Krazy, Hyberbits, ASTR and Ra Ra Riot for a thoroughly electronic remix package. Showing their usual prowess, the pair isolate Tyler Glenn’s lyrics from their twangy pop-rock setting, taking just a pinch of plucky guitar while adding a heap of spunky progressive. The result hits on the festival balance of recognizable lyrics and fist pumpable builds, packaged up with a pleasant beat. If there was pressure to deliver on their record-breaking hit, The Chainsmokers’ solid return to the remix didn’t disappoint.
