London production outfit Snakehips have been a refreshing chilled addition to the UK’s thriving electronic output since breaking the mold with laid back breakthrough single “On & On.” Their docile stylings have scored remix duties for both Banks and The Weeknd along the way, but now the focus falls back on original studio assets courtesy of impending single “Forever.” To date, their originals have balanced one of two aural ideals – that of their uber-chilled debut and the bass-favoring prowess of subsequent Annie Mac favor “Make It.” For the most part, “Forever” leans towards the former, grooving steadily and centered around blissful melodic maneuvers to epitomize the soundtrack to a summer spent away from the buzz of festival house. On the modern landscape, Snakehips continue to commandeer their own agenda for the awkward middle ground between house and hip-hop, making them an original and omnipotent force in electronic music.
