Tiësto to headline Global Citizen’s debut ‘Thank You Festival’ at Merriweather Post Pavilion
Thank You Festival, an event hosted by the Global Citizen movement in conjunction with World Childhood Foundation, is scheduled to take place on June 26th at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Tiësto will be headlining the mini festival, whose purpose is to recognize US efforts to diminish global child deaths throughout the last 25 years and to highlight the importance of continuing the effort.
Above & Beyond, Krewella and Alvin Risk are also confirmed artists on the roster, with more to be announced as the showcase approaches. Tickets will go on sale Friday, April 11th and 100 free tickets will be given away via Global Citizen’s website.
In a press release, CEO of the Global Poverty Project Hugh Evans stated that the fest will serve as the perfect opportunity to “educate the younger generation and motivate our leaders to act.” By reaching out to several of the most esteemed names within electronic music, it is his hope to put on an appealing event for young adults while also raising awareness of a worldwide dilemma that not many are aware exists.
Tiësto says, “Through my work with the World Childhood Foundation, I’ve learned about the millions of kids who are battling abuse and even dying from diseases that have known cures. I hope all my fans will join me in working with these amazing organizations to help these children all around the world live and become healthy and strong so they can enjoy their childhoods.”
