Will Ferrell and Co. to produce ‘I’m In Love With The DJ,’ an upcoming dance-crazed comedy

Anchorman funny man Will Ferrell, along with frequent partners Adam McKay and Kevin Messick, have been tapped to produce a new EDM-themed, R-rated film entitled I’m in Love With The DJ. The romantic comedy, written by Lauryn Kahn, follows a girl whose two best friends join her on a work trip to Spain — that, of course, involves very little work and heavy partying. The trip turns into a bloodthirsty hunt for an attractive DJ, unfolding through the electronic dance music scene abroad.

Sony Pictures has purchased Kahn’s script and is now on its way to seeing the film through. Sony production president Michael De Luca dishes the little public information for the future film, hailing the screenwriter as a rare talent. “Her characters are full of life and very, very funny,” he says, “we love this script and we’re excited to be working with her, Will, Adam, and Kevin.”

The EDM rom-com, of sorts, falls into some of Hollywood’s most trusted comedic hands, and the news of bringing dance music to the big screen with professional care follows the confirmation of an HBO series (another comedy) involving Calvin Harris.
