Bassnectar announces album details, releases free single ‘Now’
Last month, Bassnectar gave fans a much needed update on his whereabouts and progress in the studio. With 26 new tracks finished, Lorin is sitting on a sumptuous amount of material. The bass magnate has recently decided to choose fifteen of the tracks and organize them into his new album, #NVSB (an undisclosed acronym), which will be officially released on June 24th. Ahead of the release, Lorin has given away a free track from the album. He writes on SoundCloud: “‘NOW ft. Rye Rye’ is the first of 15 songs, each representing a distinct point of a very unique spectrum.”
Bassnectar has long been a proponent of the 808. The classic kit has been a prominent weapon in his arsenal years before the current wave of trap music. His latest original uses a deft 808 sub layered with the machine-gun lyrical flow of Rye Rye for a distinct hip hop feel. The lighter piano bridge in the middle is a welcome change from the rest of the track, displaying Lorin’s uncanny ability to flip the mood of a song in a second.
