The Guvernment to close doors on January 31st, 2015
Toronto based super-club, The Guvernment, announced on Twitter that it will be shutting down on January 31st, 2015 after 17 years of operation. This comes as no surprise as news about a possible closure have circulated for over a year now. The club was launched by Ink Entertainment in 1996 and has been widely accepted as the club to frequent in Canada, it has the been the home to the biggest names in the game such as Deadmau5, Calvin Harris, Avicii, and many more. EDM events haven’t gone over well with city of Toronto recently after legislators proposed a new law that would ban the Exhibition Palace from hosting dance oriented events. While the reasons for closing aren’t public, it seems as though the land on which The Guvernment existed has been sold in order to build luxury condominiums. With 9 months left, expect The Guvernment to go out with a bang.
It’s true, after 17 years of being the leader of Canadian nightlife we will officially be closing our doors on January 31, 2015.
