Montreal to extend last call until 5:30 a.m during summer months

Montreal has always been known for having Canada’s most eccentric nightlife scene, and now that scene is about to become even better. The mayor has approved certain bars on the busy stretches of Crescent and Saint-Denis to serve alcohol until 5:30 a.m., which is two hours later than normal laws currently allow. Don’t get too excited however; this is only a trail period running from June 12 to July 5. The new law is meant to take a stab at Toronto who is currently limiting nightlife by banning all electronic events at Toronto’s Exhibition Place and closing Guvernment’s doors in January of 2015. Let’s hope other Canadian cities begin to follow suit and create more flexible liquor laws.
