Australia’s Big Day Out 2015 cancelled, hopes to rebound in the future

Big Day Out, one of Australia’s premiere music festivals founded in 1992 has cancelled its 2015 edition, but hopes to bring the festival back in the near future. Losses for last year’s BDO have been reported to be within 8-15 million dollars and there were many rumors that contractors were left unpaid and attendance numbers were exaggerated. This would not be the first time the festival has been called off: The New Zealand leg of BDO was cancelled in 2013 due to low attendance numbers in 2012. Despite past issues, festival ownership will remain with longtime promoters C3 Presents and the company remains positive about the future of their long standing festival. BDO has always been the pioneer of the Australian music scene and hopes to rebound in 2016.
