Avicii named as Spotify’s top ’25 Under 25′ artist
After a turbulent spring season, Avicii provided further reason for his collected superstardom as he brushed aside all rumors and controversy to announce a full-fledged return to his main focus – music. Already back in the studio to work on his follow up album to True, Avicii has topped the chart of yet another important marker in his already fruitful career. Listed as the frontrunner of Spotify’s ’25 Under 25,’ the “Levels” producer is followed only by pop music’s most iconic figures: Lorde, Miley Cyrus, One Direction, and Taylor Swift formulate the rest of the lists’ top five. Fellow dance music stars Zedd (#15) and Disclosure (#20) also join Avicii on Spotify’s recent list.
Earlier this year, the 24-year old DJ’s “Wake Me Up” was awarded the No. 1 title as Spotify’s most streamed song of all time after receiving 200 million plays. As of the announcement of the ’25 Under 25′ list, Avicii has claimed many notable titles on the popular streaming platform. The Swedish talent was the first artist under 25 to reach one billion streams total, and “Wake Me Up” still remains Spotify’s most played record, now totaling 240 million global streams.
