Above & Beyond share their 2004 Essential Mix of the Year
Ten years ago, Above and Beyond took over BBC’s legendary essential mix for the first time, taking the airwaves by storm with a two hour dose of immaculate trance music. At the time, the young trio were a relatively new outfit, having only made their DJ debut two years prior in Tokyo. With that said, by 2004, it was already remarkably clear that Jono, Tony and Paavo were headed for big things. On top of official production duties for Madonna, the trio’s label Anjunabeats was steadily flourishing with stellar contributions from the likes of Menno de Jong, Super8 and more. When they were given the opportunity to takeover Pete Tong’s famous show, Above & Beyond did not hold back. What transpired on June 6th, 2004, was something quite special. Ten years old and this essential mix is still perfect.
