Major contributor to the emergence and rise of festival trap Carnage makes a comfortable return with his long-awaited debut album single “Bricks.” Taking to social media almost two months ago, the Los Angeles-based trap pioneer announced plans for career-changing direction and the start of a “new Carnage” signed to a still-unknown major record label. But “Bricks” poses a beautiful paradox. While enlisting Georgian “Versace” rap trio Migos for some vibrant, southern hip-hop flavor, Carnage flaunts the sound of his roots through the contagious synth progression and classically powerful 808 percussion. This latest release from Ultra Records only scratches the surface of Carnage’s new artistic trajectory, and looks especially promising for electronic and hip-hop fan-hybrids.
