Seasoned house veteran Harry Romero made a valiant debut for X this month, but it’s easy to forget just how far back the heritage of this New York legend runs. As Toolroom Records plans to revisit his 2001 Bambossa Records classic “Tania,” the task falls upon Italian stalwart Riva Starr to reawaken the leading lady herself some 13 years down the road from its impactful debut.

The SNATCH! head honcho has a proven aptitude for the percussive and often quirkier remits of house music, one that immediately gels with that of ‘Choo Choo’s’ own studio demeanor. Heavy on the grooves and careful not to distort the original cuts timeless hook, Riva’s remix steps with the utmost respect whilst edging the renowned track towards the modern dance floor. It’s a near perfect revisit of an already timeless piece of house music, one sure to connect the generations with an appreciation for the genre’s ongoing leaps and bounds and those keeping the flame burning strong in 2014.
