Deadmau5 follows up release of ‘Seeya’ with ‘Infra Turbo Pigcart Racer’
Back in the summer and fall of 2013, a certain SoundCloud account saw a flurry of activity that not even the blogosphere was prepared for. In a burst of creativity, Joel Zimmerman previewed a whole score of new material over the course of five months before abruptly wiping his page clean and announcing an upcoming album. That album is nearly upon us, but the man known as Deadmau5 has tempered the impatience with the releases of a few key singles, today’s “Infra Turbo Pigcart Racer” among them. An epic 10-minute track with a melody that nods to 8-bit without bending to glitch, the newest single pulls in soaring phasers, thump-backed vocals, a sample of speeding cars and more for a sound that only a man who simultaneously loathes dance music while pushing it forward can create.
