Diplo delivers hour-long World Cup inspired mix
The internationally encompassing FIFA World Cup is upon us and spirits are high. The hallowed soccer tournament finds its home in Brazil this year as thousands flock to South America and millions more to their television screens to enjoy the world dominating, month long event. Thanks to Diplo, some of us can celebrate in a different way for this year’s World Cup, with a fresh, hour-long bout from the decks by the Mad Decent don.
Diplo took to the BBC 1Xtra airwaves to deliver an hour of World Cup inspired fun, rounding together a colorful selection of tracks full of B-sides and great oldies. Although the mix came by way of MistaJam’s radio show, rather than Diplo’s usual Saturday night slot, the featured mix does not disappoint whatsoever, and Diplo proves to be a gracious guest. Weaving in edits from the likes of Fool’s Gold co-founder Nick Catchdubs, Yellowclaw, Kanye reworks, and Skrillex jams, the mix incorporates a wide variety of moombah and electro-influenced sounds. The mix even includes Deadmau5‘s famed trance-esque selection, “Brazil,” named by the rich cultural offerings of the World Cup’s host nation.
