Since breaking through with 2012’s “All By Myself,” DubVision have faced an internal battle: that of their melodic origins versus the changing tides of the big room sound. Having vocally acknowledged the pressures of facing the growing popularity of the genre’s heavier sound scope, dedicated fans have continued to hope that such offerings as “Rockin” alongside Martin Garrix were only to be temporary digressions from their otherwise uniquely tailored and melodically tuned sound.
Their latest single “Hollow” is perhaps the most realistic middle ground to emerge from this ongoing clash of convention and cohesion. Built around an impactful and instrumentally refined take on their familiar approach, the track is the furthest lean towards a commercial crossover we have seen from the duo to date. When all is said and done, DubVision use “Hollow” to show a new dynamic to their melodic big room aptitude, setting a potentially volatile stage for their studio work to come.
