Eric Prydz previews remixes for smash ‘Liberate’
Eric Prydz may be frequently imitated and always venerated, but one thing the longstanding Swedish legend rarely is is remixed, or at least officially. Yet once in a blue moon a Prydz original comes out that proves irresistible – like “Pjanoo” and “Nitron” before it, “Liberate” is one such track. The three month old tune continues to pick up speed and will soon be flanked by versions not kept under lock and key for EPIC shows, and Matrix & Futurebound and Lane 8 have been revealed as the artists to do the honors. Though drum & bass is not a sound frequently heard in sets of the Pryda persuasion, the UK duo deliver a sweet cut that matches the original’s uplifting streak while proffering a melody riff of their own. For a less easily categorized effort, Anjunabeats darling Lane 8 folds deep house elements into the progressive vocal leads before abandoning genre altogether in a reverberating swell that ebbs back into punchy piano. Though the jury is out on whether more mixes will be revealed, the “Liberate” remix pack will be released in late July.
