LTMDTW x Jesse Boykins III – The Rain (Original Mix) [Preview]
Kerri Chandler’s MadTech imprint has been one of the few house imprints of 2014 to consistently deliver cutting edge club cuts from the cream of the industry’s underground contenders. With Let The Machines Do The Work and Jesse Boykins III joining the ranks, two of the more absurdly named outfits to bless the modern circuit forge a bond from across the continents, baring promising resonance for the awkward space between upfront house music and down tempo electronica.
“The Rain” is a hypnotic and subdued club track that harbours surprisingly tranquil energy from start to finish. It’s a rare example of where electronic music can bow away from its more functional stereotypes, using chanted vocal samples and chunky grooves to divert the focus from the dance floor towards a mellow and renewing soundtrack to everyday life. If this is to be the sort of quality curve ball we can expect from Chandler’s gang moving forwards, the union of LTMDTW and Jesse Boykins III is a gesture not be ignored by the industry’s more open-minded palates.
