Oliver Heldens releases ‘Overdrive,’ Jack Beats hops on the remix
Oliver Helden‘s “Gecko” has been storming through dance music since its release on Musical Freedom, from becoming the anthem of Miami Music Week to pushing the commercially appealing deep house rhythm as a trending sound. When the track received a vocal from Becky Hill and was renamed “Overdrive” this spring, even its perceived potential had been blown out of the water. The addition of vocals are done right, and done with the soulfulness of 90s house. The record itself is as much of a trendsetter as has been heard in dance music; it’s what “Atom” did to the drop in 2012, and is changing rules for producers and effectiveness but this time with a deeper twang.
Now finally and officially released “Overdrive” is available in its radio edit form, meanwhile an extended mix and, more recently, a remix from Jack Beats has hit the air.
