Over the last couple of days Jack Beats have been treating fans to previews of songs off their upcoming EP Somebody to Love. “Knock You Down,” “Storm,” and “Just A Beat” received warm receptions from enraptured fans, leaving them clamoring for more. Hopefully the duo can keep up the positive momentum with “About to Get Fresh,” which features frat star rappers Chiddy Bang and OV. Like “Storm,” the track is an experimental departure from their signature fidget sounds. Although I’m partial to the tried-and-true Jack Beats formula, I’m not knocking them for trying something new either. I wasn’t crazy about the vocals at first, but with each additional listen they grow on me more and more. The full EP is set for release this Sunday via OWSLA and Columbia Records.
