Umek Feat. Jay Colin – Burnfire (Original Mix)
For all their years serving the digital market, tech house has never been a strong suit of Spinnin Records. Their suitably rare dive into the groovy sub-genre comes this month from Slovenian kingpin Umek, who unites with Jay Colin for a dancehall-themed take on proceedings to follow-up January’s revisit of “Sweet Harmony” alongside Groovebox.
As one of the more formulaic avenues to have found a second wind in 2014, Umek’s fourth installment for the label comes with as much sub-context as it does rhythmically charged impact. It’s as close as we could expect the 1605 master to come to radio friendly, and with all rational levels of dance floor capacity considered, “Burnfire” remains tactfully tailored to club goers and blissfully indicative of the leaps and bounds this Iron Curtain sensation has made for country and musical calling alike.
