Weekend Rewind: Klaas’s remix of Guru Josh Project’s re-released hit “Infinity 2008”

“Here’s my key… Philosophy. A freak like me… Just needs infinity.”

The iconic saxophone of Jerseyman Guru Josh‘s “Infinity” is an instantly recognizable anthem for dance music lovers everywhere. As the product of the British post-acid house scene, “Infinity” (also known as “Infinity (1990’s… Time for the Guru)) debuted in December of 1989 and soon flourished across Europe throughout 1990. Fast-forward 18 years; the Guru Josh Project formed consisting of Guru Josh himself, Anders Nyman and Darren Bailie to re-release the single’s first and most well-known reincarnation “Infinity 2008”, remixed by the pumping stylings of German DJ/producer Klaas. Adopting the infectious original sax melody, Klaas’s powerful and modernized remix quickly gained international success. Though record companies at the time made the single’s release exclusive to Europe, Ultra Records eventually picked it up in 2009 where it overcame Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” as the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart #1.
