After a noticeable hiatus between original releases, Baauer commands attention with a fresh approach to his brand new sound. As the name suggests, “Clang” kicks off with an alloy of metallic chimes and knocks, but that’s hardly the highlight. Listening deeper, layers of fine-tuned percussive elements waver amongst high-pitched lifts, making way for the tune’s climax: an interlude of otherworldly drips which introduce the final grooves, leaving listeners itching for more. “[“Clang” is] the beginning of a whole lotta new,” Baauer suggested upon the release of his latest.
