Boys Noize teams up with Chilly Gonzales for ‘Octave Minds’ collaborative album, releases first single as free download
Boysnoize Records may not be the first place you’d look for ambient dream pop, but come September the label will boast a whole album full. Labelhead Boys Noize himself has joined forces with Canadian multi-instrumentalist and Daft Punk contributor Chilly Gonzales on new project “Octave Minds,” a “collaborative album” that seems poised to blaze where few festival successes have dared tread. The pair have released first single “In Silence” as a free download to give a taste, and its sprawling piano work and haunting vocal add an opaque tint to this chapter of the duo’s work. More carefully composed than calibrated for a crowd, “In Silence” likely won’t get thrown around the airwaves on mix shows, but it will certainly keep us wondering what’s next from Ridha’s and Gonzales’ “Octave Minds.”
