DA Exclusive: Style of Eye announces sophomore album Footprints, sets tone with visuals for ‘Love Looks’
Riding the waves of electro pop, big room and Disney soundtrack remixes alike, Linus Eklow’s Style of Eye moniker has continued to hold ranks as one of his nation’s more unconventionally poised heavyweights. Now, the Swedish trailblazer has revealed to DA that his sophomore solo artist album Footprints will be released October 7 via Sony/Ultra. Dropping in the wake of a high-octane inauguration of his Galantis project alongside national peer Christian Karlsson, the 12-track album is set to represent the meteoric musical journey of Eklow’s breakthrough moniker and its stamina here in 2014.
Eklow told Dancing Astronaut:
“It’s been four really interesting years for me. I wanted to break loose from what I was doing and explore the stuff that I was hearing and liking at the time. I chose the title because it really does represent the musical trail I’ve taken over the past several years. You’ll hear the spectrum of what I’ve been exposed to, but not in the most conventional way. My creative process started before considering the club floor and consequently it’s taken a while.”
As the world patiently awaits this high-profile first from the man behind Icona Pop’s ‘I Love It,’ ‘Kids’ and ‘The Game,’ news of his re-entering the studio to finish penning what will become the first Galantis album adds to a year of juggling considerably high profile releases across the board. Speaking of the next chapter alongside Miike Snow’s Karlsson, he explained. “We went out there and showed the world what we had and they really got it. We’re ready to take it to a new high and this album is going to have a few surprises along the way.”
In the meantime, the album’s inaugural single “Love Looks” alongside Lars Allertz can be seen exclusively via Dancing Astronaut above and is released July 22.
