Zeds Dead explore new sounds on latest EP

Anyone who was previously under the impression that Zeds Dead are simply a dubstep production outfit are wrong. DC and Hooks might be known by their electrifyingly gritty signature sound, but the pair are certainly not bound by the confines of genre, as they have proven with the release of their latest EP, Somewhere Else.

Their newest collection, a follow up to the genre-crossing Hot Sauce EP, comes as an eight track bout of exploration as the duo glide between multiple soundscapes with multiple collaborators. Previously thought to be out of the pair’s comfort zone, tracks like “Lost You” and “Bustamove” showcase Zeds Dead’s bold versatility as they test deep house and minimal waters. “Stoned Capone” enlists the help of Omar LinX, as the trio briefly revist the Victor days, and with the addition of Big Gigantic‘s smooth saxophone melodies, the foursome offer a dark rap-electro hybrid. In a tag-team effort with Memorecks, “Collapse” offers a raw, sensual, lyrical selection to an already well rounded studio release. Zeds Dead have made it clear that they will not be typecast by a single sound, as they continue to stock their arsenal with a genre-blurring gems.

The duo have also released a BitTorrent bundle with a handful of unreleased tracks and stems in tandem with the release of their newest EP. Available now via Mad Decent, check out Zeds Dead’s latest, and be sure to take advantage of these free downloads too.
