Burning Man shuts down due to heavy rain

After kicking off yesterday evening, Burning Man has already been shut down for the unlikeliest of reasons — torrential rains and thunderstorms. All traffic has been turned away and there will be no access onto the Playa until the BRC makes an official announcement. Local officials believe that Burners may not be able to return until Tuesday morning.
All Burners have been sent back in the direction of Reno as the storm runs its course.

UPDATED: This is the official announcement from the BRC. The event is expected to re-open Tuesday.
